Baby chicks keep each other warm in transit, which is why chicks are traditionally shipped in large orders of 15 or 25. That's a big pain for lots of people who just want a few chickens! Since our goal in life (yes, our goal in life!) is to make your life easy, we've partnered with a forward-thinking hatchery that ships small orders with a high-tech, long-lasting heating element. This keeps the chicks nice and warm for their journey! Every order (excluding Alaska and Hawaii) ships via USPS Priority Mail and typically arrives in 1-3 days.
Keep in mind that in the winter, our minimums are larger: 8, depending on the chicks you order and your location. Winter orders ship USPS Priority Mail too, with extra insulation. In 2015, we added an insulating liner in the bottom of all the boxes during the winter to help keep everyone safe and cozy.
